Event Details

BECBC's Charity of the Year, Time to Change West Cumbria, are running this event to challenge perceptions around women with criminal records.

Following on from Tackling the Taboo event in 2022 this is another raw, difficult, emotive subject to talk about.

Statistics show that contact with the criminal justice system is different depending on your gender. At this event they'll share some facts and some personal experiences of the criminal justice system that may shock you.

We hope you'll leave thinking that we can all do things differently.

Kerri says "Something that is often overlooked is the fact that most women are coerced in to committing crimes which is never looked at with empathy.

Homeless woman are exploited because we can make "more money", then the book is thrown at us when we are caught.

There's so much injustice for women in the eyes of the law. I'm delighted to be invited to the event to support the guest speakers. My book from gutter to glory covers the issues raised that need to change in our society...."
